Ever wonder about those high speeds that never get repeated and are a lot faster than normal?
One explanation is if the front wheel of a bike or car is carried over the first speed trap beam, and the rear tyre breaks the first speed trap beam. The speedtrap is effectively shortened by the length of the wheelbase and a higher speed is recorded.

This converter calculates the speed that would be indicated in both a 66 foot and a 132 foot speed trap. The Actual speed is the speed that would have been indicated, if the front wheel/s had been on the ground. The indicated speeds assume that the vehicle was no longer accelerating.

Enter the Actual Speed and Wheelbase and then Calculate.

This calculator assumes that front and rear tyres are the same diameter. The Advanced Calculator factors the tyre diameters and speed trap beam height into the calculation.
