Carried Wheel Speed Calculator

One explanation is if the front wheel of a bike or car is carried over the first speed trap beam, and the rear tyre breaks the first speed trap beam. The speedtrap is effectively shortened by the length of the wheelbase and a higher speed is recorded.
This converter calculates the speed that would be indicated in both a 66 foot and a 132 foot
speed trap. The Actual speed is the speed that would have been indicated, if the front wheel/s
had been on the ground. The indicated speeds assume that the vehicle was no longer accelerating.

* Enter the Actual Speed, Wheelbase, Front and Rear Tyre Diameters
and the Beam Height, then Calculate. The default tyre diameters represent a large rear slick and an aircraft style front tyre. The Basic Calculator does not factor the tyre diameters into the calculation. |
